The penultimate round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine took place at the historic Hockenheimring, where CL Motorsport focused on development and race mileage for its young line-up.
In Qualifying for Race 1, Michael Belov started P18, followed by rookies Enea Frey in P22 and Newman Chi in P23. Saturday’s race saw the team working through a busy midfield: Belov finished P20, while Frey and Chi crossed the line P22 and P24, gaining valuable laps and experience on the demanding German circuit.
On Sunday, for Race 2, Belov lined up P13, Chi P21, and Frey P24 in the Qualifying. Race 2 showed encouraging progress, with Belov finishing close to the points in P13, Chi climbing to P17 after a solid drive, and Frey recovering positions to end P19.
Michael Belov: “It was a weekend where we had to work hard, but we made a step forward in Race 2. The pace improved and we were again close to scoring points. Now the focus is on finishing strong at Monza.”
Enea Frey: “Each session at Hockenheim was an opportunity to learn. Race 2 was better, and I feel more comfortable with the car and racing at this level.”
Newman Chi: “This weekend was really about building experience. Race 2 felt much stronger and I could move forward in the pack. Every lap helps me grow as a driver.”
David Li, Team Owner Representative: “Hockenheim was a valuable learning ground for our young drivers. Both Newman and Enea are rookies in this highly competitive field, and they’re showing progress every time they go out. Michael was once again a reference point, and as a team we’re gathering the data and confidence we need to close the season on a high in Monza.”
CL Motorsport now turns its focus to the 2025 season finale at the iconic Autodromo Nazionale Monza, on the weekend of October 26, aiming to convert the team’s work and growth into a strong finish.
