CLOSE TO THE TOP 10 AT SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS

CL Motorsport came close to a Top 10 finish in Race 1 in its second racing weekend at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

On the 7.004-meter layout nestled in the Ardennes, the team based near Lake Garda fielded Macéo Capietto and Michael Belov, aiming to continue their development path in the highly competitive Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

The Belgian track proved extremely challenging for both drivers and engineers, who had to strike the right balance between top speed and drivability in the technical middle sector. Both Capietto and Belov provided solid feedback to the crew, and in a surprising Race 1, Belov finished just outside the Top 10 in P12.

Race 2, marked by several Safety Car interruptions, didn’t allow Belov to fully showcase his potential. He was caught in a first-corner incident that ended his race prematurely. Meanwhile, Frenchman Capietto managed to bring the car home in 19th position.

David Li, CL Motorsport’s Team Owner Representative, commented on the weekend:

“If I compare Spa to Misano, I can only be satisfied with the progress, both technically and in terms of team spirit. CL Motorsport is racing against some of the most successful teams in the feeder series ladder. FRECA is a demanding championship, but it also offers the perfect stage to build a solid foundation for our racing future.”

The team will now have around 20 days to prepare for Round 3, scheduled for the technical Zandvoort Circuit over the weekend of June 8.
